Having the ability to see massive sunsets is one of the most amazing parts of living in Florida. My beautiful wife and I decided to head down to the beach and check out this evening sunset.
As you know, Clearwater Beach is famous for it is white sand and Pier as well as stunning sunsets. Well, tonight started as no exception. The was setting and the clouds were sparse so we knew we were in for a nice view.
The other interesting part about Florida evenings especially in the summer is the opportunity for a pop up thunderstorm. Another famous part about our state if you have ever been here. At about 3-4pm in the evening we are known to have downpours and then they clear up and go away.
To this end both of these situations occurred. We were in store for an amazing sunset and right over our shoulders, we heard the rumble of a storm. We through it were further away than it was, but here it came.
The more interesting part about this cell is while it was not large it was potent. I looked on my phone and it was a small defined, but red cell.
With 100’s to 1000’s of people on the beach a night for sunset it was amazing to see the reactions people had. The storm was loud and wind was brisk. The bolts were bright and had a very regular pattern. We did not see the storm itself until it cleared the hotel towers, but once it did, we had to make some quick decisions. To run to to the car or stay and watch.
While we were off to the south of the main storm we decided to stay and I was lucky enough to have my camera with me. I snapped a bunch of pictures of this evening storm and some more of the sunset. It was a cool night for us to watch both natural events and some great photography on top if it.
